These days high-powered equipment for steam-cleaning carpets is so advanced and lightweight that two small-framed women can manage it.
Tracie Bird and Karen Vincent, of Ryans Carpet Cleaning, believe they are the city's only female carpet-cleaning team.
"A lot of customers are pleased to know that women will be coming into their homes to do the steam-cleaning and, as we are using the latest machine from the US, the job can be done faster and more efficiently," Ms Bird said.
Ryans Carpet Cleaning also does restoration work. Director Mark Suttle has established links with some insurance companies and is available to do the clean-up and preparation work for homes damaged by fire or water.
