Giving the home a great new look is just one of the advantages of getting your carpets cleaned by Ace Chem-Dry.

Increasing the carpet's lifespan is another.

Tony Woods, who along with his wife Cheryl holds the franchise for the areas between Helensburgh and Minnamurra, said only a small amount of water was used when steam cleaning so carpets dried within an hour.

The carpet would not shrink, the system was environmentally friendly and harmless to children.

Mr Woods said it was advisable to clean carpets at least once every 12 months.

``Depending on the number of children and the amount of parties held in the home, it could mean carpets need to be cleaned more regularly.

``If carpets aren't cleaned regularly, the dirt is ground into the carpets causing noticeable damage," he said.

Mr Woods said the cleaning process involved four steps.

``First I vacuum the carpet then I spray a solution called The Natural on it," he said.

``The solution is carbonated, brings up the dirt in the carpet, is non-toxic and leaves very little residue.

``After this I use a buffer machine that has a woollen pad attached to it to bring up the water so that the carpet dries quickly."

Mr Woods said if some stains remained, he would treat them by hand.

He is available to clean carpets seven days a week.
